VR Battles Official Rules

  1. General Points
    1.1. Rule Application: These rules apply to all VR Battles players and events, regardless of skill level or location.
    1.2. Rule Updates: Rules may be updated or changed at any time, with prior notice given to players whenever possible.
    1.3. Game Ownership: Every participant must own a legal copy of every game they play in VR Battles.
    1.4. Game Coverage: VR Battles reserves exclusive rights to the coverage of all matches, including but not limited to streaming, broadcasting, and video-on-demand.
    1.5. Amendment of Terms and Conditions or Rules: VR Battles reserves the right to change any rule or condition at any time, with or without prior notice.
    1.6. Timezone: All times given are in Central Standard Time (CST) unless otherwise specified.
    1.7. Suggestions: Players or teams can suggest improvements to the rules or MatchHub by submitting feedback through the official VR Battles website.
    1.8. Internal Texts: All texts written in protest or support tickets cannot be published without the permission of VR Battles.
  2. Player Conduct
    2.1. Respectful Behavior: Players must behave respectfully towards competitors, staff, and viewers at all times, both in-game and out.
    2.2. Prohibited Behavior: Insults, excessive spamming, harassment, and unsportsmanlike conduct are strictly prohibited.
    2.3. Cheating: Cheating in any form is strictly forbidden and will result in severe penalties. Cheating includes but is not limited to:
    Using unauthorized programs, modifications, or exploits to gain an unfair advantage.
    Colluding with other players to manipulate match results.
    Intentionally disconnecting or idling during a match.
    2.4. Player Responsibility: Players are responsible for their behavior and any actions taken by others on their account.
  3. Matches and Tournaments
    3.1. Punctuality: Players/teams must arrive on time for scheduled matches. Failure to arrive on time may result in a forfeit.
    3.2. Result Reporting: Both parties must report match results accurately and promptly through the official VR Battles MatchHub.
    3.3. Dispute Resolution: Players should use the official VR Battles protest system for disputes. Protests must be submitted within 24 hours of the match completion.
    3.4. Match Evidence: Screenshots and/or recordings of match results must be kept for at least 14 days after the match completion in case of a dispute.
  4. Technical Issues
    4.1. Player Responsibility: Players are responsible for their technical setup and ensuring that they have a stable internet connection.
    4.2. Issue Resolution: Players should attempt to resolve technical issues quickly and fairly. If a technical issue cannot be resolved within a reasonable amount of time, the match may be paused or rescheduled.
    4.3. Connection Drops: In the event of a connection drop, the match may be paused and resumed once the player has reconnected. If the player is unable to reconnect within a reasonable amount of time, the match may be forfeited.
  5. Penalties
    5.1. Rule Violations: Violations of rules may result in penalties, including but not limited to:
    Warnings
    Point deductions
    Match forfeits
    Suspensions
    Permanent bans
    5.2. Severe Offenses: Repeated or severe offenses may lead to longer bans or permanent exclusion from VR Battles.
  6. Fair Play
    6.1. Unauthorized Programs: The use of unauthorized programs, modifications, or exploits is strictly prohibited.
    6.2. Unfair Advantages: Players must not attempt to gain unfair advantages over their opponents, such as by exploiting glitches or using outside assistance.
  7. Account Management
    7.1. Single Account Policy: Each player is limited to one VR Battles account.
    7.2. Account Sharing: Account sharing or playing on another person’s account is forbidden.
    7.3. Account Security: Players must ensure the security of their accounts by using strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication.
  8. Streaming and Content Creation
    8.1. Player Streaming: Players are allowed to stream their matches on platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, provided that they follow VR Battles streaming guidelines.
    8.2. VR Battles Rights: VR Battles reserves the right to broadcast and create content from any match, including but not limited to highlights, replays, and interviews.
  9. Rule Changes and Special Cases
    9.1. Administrative Decisions: VR Battles administration can make decisions on cases not covered by the rules.
    9.2. Mid-Competition Changes: Rules may be changed during competitions if necessary.
  10. Additional Policies
    10.1. Data Protection:
    Player data will be protected according to applicable laws and VR Battles’ privacy policy.
    This includes personal information, gameplay data, and any other sensitive information collected during participation in VR Battles competitions.
    VR Battles will implement robust security measures to safeguard player data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

10.2. Code of Conduct:
All participants must adhere to the VR Battles Code of Conduct, promoting a positive and inclusive community.
The Code of Conduct outlines expected behaviors, such as respecting other players, refraining from offensive language, and maintaining a sportsmanlike attitude.
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in penalties, including warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans from VR Battles competitions.

  1. MatchHub (Ladders)
    11.1. General Points:
    The MatchHub system is based on a ranking system where players and teams compete to improve their standing.
    Players will be assigned an initial rank based on their performance in placement matches or their previous season’s ranking.
    Ranks will be updated after each match based on the outcome and the relative ranks of the opponents.

11.2. Challenges:
Players or teams can challenge others within MatchHub to improve their rank.
Challenges can be issued to players or teams within a certain rank range.
Players or teams can accept or decline challenges, but frequent refusal to accept challenges may result in penalties.

11.3. Matches:
All matches within MatchHub must be conducted according to the rules set forth in this document.
Matches will be played in a best-of-three or best-of-five format, depending on the tournament or ladder rules.
Players or teams must be present for their scheduled matches or may forfeit the match.

11.4. Scoring:
The ranking system uses an ELO-based point system.
Points are calculated based on the position of the player/team in the MatchHub, their opponent’s position, and the match result.
Players or teams will gain points for victories and lose points for defeats.

11.5. Disputes:
Any disputes arising from MatchHub matches should be resolved using the official protest system.
Protests must be submitted within a specified timeframe after the match and should include evidence and a detailed explanation of the dispute.
The protest committee will review the evidence and make a final decision on the outcome of the match.

11.6. Exits:
Players or teams may exit MatchHub at any time.
Their scores will be put on hold and reactivated if they rejoin.
Players or teams who exit MatchHub and do not return within a specified timeframe may be removed from the ranking system.
These rules aim to create a fair, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants in VR Battles competition.
